Bruno Canfora - Romantica (2024) [Hi-Res]

Four Flies is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Bruno Canfora’s birth with the release of Romantica, a newly curated collection of 15 previously unreleased tracks recorded by the acclaimed composer and conductor in the 1960s with his Orchestra, renowned for its innovative blend of jazz and symphonic music.

The album features music created for television shows and commercials, capturing the upbeat and optimistic spirit of Italy's economic boom in the 1960s — a prosperous era marked by confidence in the present and immediate future. Tracks like "Grandi magazzini" and "Idillio romano" evoke a sense of lightheartedness and carefree joy, while"Incanto a Via Veneto" and "Alba" offer sweet and romantic orchestrations. "Dolce inganno" and "Notturno", on the other hand, are more dramatic and suspenseful.

The collection also includes two rare gems from the 1968 RAI television adaptation of the play Addio Giovinezza, including a previously unreleased duet sung by Gigliola Cinquetti and Nino Castelnuovo, who starred in the adaptation directed by Antonello Falqui.

Romantica will be available in digital format starting 6 November 2024, the day marking 100 years from Canfora’s birth, to commemorate the extraordinary artistic legacy of the Maestro.
