Hubble Dreams is an innovative exploration of free improvisation, blending raw spontaneity with meticulous post-production. At the suggestion of their producers, Stéphan Oliva and Sébastien Boisseau entered La Buissonne Studios without a set theme, dedicating three days to pure improvisation under sound engineer Gérard de Haro. Over five sessions, they created a mix of fully improvised pieces, later incorporating familiar themes like Tony Williams’s There Comes a Time and Neil Young’s Dead Man. Boisseau led an extensive editing process, curating moments from the improvisations to build a structured, “spatialized” musical experience that challenges the linear nature of improvised music.
