Klas Lindquist Nonet - Alternative Source Of Energy (2023)

Energetic new music by Klas Lindquist on disc this autumn
Multiple award-winning saxophonist and composer Klas Lindquist will release a new album this fall. The record is called Alternative Source of Energy and is the third in a row with his nine-piece band (Lift Off 2008, You Need It 2010). Just like on previous records, the focus is on Klas as composer and arranger.

The music, which is specially written for the band's members such as the trumpeters Karl Olandersson and Nils Janson and the saxophonists Fredrik Lindborg and Robert Nordmark, is full of energy but also well balanced, where the six winds are woven together with the rhythm section formed around the dynamic Daniel Fredriksson at the drum set.

To capture the right feeling, the album was recorded live in Benny Andersson's (ABBA) spacious studio on Skepps-holmen in Stockholm. Sound engineer Pål Svenre has then mixed the music and given it an absolutely top class sound quality. On the album, in addition to music by Klas, there is also a composition written by the Swedish singer Alice Babs, who frequently visited the band's concerts before she passed away in 2014.
