The Trondheim jazz princess is finally releasing her debut album – and it’s nothing less than a live-recorded Christmas album.
She’s now preparing for a release concert. If you’ve ever been to a jam session at Herr Nilsen, you might have heard her before, as she’s not particularly hard to persuade when it comes to singing some of the classic jazz standards and throwing in a couple of scat solos for good measure. On this December evening, however, it’s Christmas songs that are on the agenda.
With Benjamín Gísli on piano, Eskild Okkenhaug on double bass, Steinar Heide Bø on drums, and Ola Lømo Ellingsen on trumpet, anything can happen, and you’re guaranteed to get a couple of surprises. The singer also promises more scat solos, a bit of a cappella singing, a Trøndelag song or two, maybe a couple of surprise guests from the Oslo jazz scene, and not least, plenty of wonderful Christmas music from some of Norway’s most passionate jazz musicians.
