THEODOR is no longer a secret among soul music fans. Their unique mix of soul and psychedelia has gained international attention. Influential vinyl collectors like Somewhere Soul, radio stations like KEXP, and record stores from Tokyo to San Francisco have all noticed them.

Background:
The band is named after Theodor, a 24-year-old cat who watched over the making of their first album. The recordings began during the pandemic, capturing a sense of peace and isolation. Theodor’s self-titled debut album was born out of a road trip to Italy, where Rob (Okta Logue) and Lui (LUI HILL) listened to soul music tapes. This inspired the project, aiming to create a relaxed and atmospheric sound. Max (Fooks Nihil) and Greg (Triorität) later joined, completing the group. The album, released in 2023 by French label Broc Recordz, was well-received.
Now:

Theodor is back with a new album, HOLOCENE. It blends a modern sound with influences from 60s jazz and 70s soul and funk. Two singers with soulful voices share stories about reflection, lost friends, and the universe. Acoustic drums, groovy basslines, and dreamy synthesizers create a mellow and psychedelic vibe.

HOLOCENE refines the band’s style. It combines drum machines, flowing instrumentals, and pop-inspired structures. Each of the 10 tracks feels cinematic, sparking the listener’s imagination. It’s a perfect summer soundtrack, adding a touch of magic to your day. Fans of AIR’s silky synths, early Mac DeMarco’s mellow sound, and 70s soul grooves will enjoy it.
