Awesome Tapes From Africa (ATFA) is a record label founded over a decade ago, debuting with the reissue of Nahawa Doumbia's Vol. 3. The label focuses on reissuing classic and new African music for global audiences, offering artists a 50/50 profit split with legally licensed recordings. For its 50th release, ATFA presents Doumbia's Vol. 2, originally released in Mali in 1982 and unavailable internationally until now.

This album, featuring Doumbia's emotive voice and N’gou Bagayoko's acoustic guitar, is both intimate and impactful. Painstakingly remastered from LP by Jessica Thompson, the release overcomes challenges of inferior original pressing quality to deliver clarified audio. Vol. 2 captures Doumbia’s early work addressing relevant social themes, with the room’s natural acoustics adding a unique dimension. The album is a testament to Doumbia’s enduring legacy and ATFA’s dedication to bringing African music to a wider audience.
