Mipso - Gas in the Tank: Mipso Live Across America 2023/2024 (2024) [Hi-Res]

"Fun news… we’re making a live album! We recorded almost every show on the Book of Fools album release tour (approximately 50 shows in a lot of states and Canada) and now we’ve begun the process of sifting and listening and taking notes in spreadsheets and deciding which songs from which shows were most special.

When the tour ended in March there’s NO way I could’ve listened to this many hours of live Mipso. My brain was too full of it already. I barely could’ve told the difference between shows. But with some distance it’s been wild and very fun to listen back. We played a different setlist every night but the shows are way more distinct than i expected. It makes sense: some huge halls, some shotgun clubs, some sleepy Tuesday nights after long drives (sorry), some rowdy Saturdays (thank you.)

One realization: the biggest variable is the crowds, no question. Not just the number of people but the quality of your presence, both in the pin drop moments and raucous crescendos. listening along to the 18th Edges Run, I started to think of y'all as the conductor and us as the orchestra following your cues. Or, maybe we are the surfer and y’all are the waves. What I mean is this already feels like a collaborative album-making process and I want to thank you for your help.

I’m curious: what shows do y'all remember? Did anybody come to more than one and notice the difference I'm talking about? From third nipple discussions (slide 3) to Spicy Pickled Quail Eggs (you know who u are), thank you for being part of our 50 city social experiment. Can’t wait to show y'all the record.
