Nick The Nightfly - Let's Have a Real Good Xmas (2023)

I have always loved and sung Christmas songs, they are part of our childhood and are something we carry within us throughout our lives.
Recording an album like this is a real dream for me, a musical gift for Christmas.
The album was recorded together with friends, musicians from Nick "The Nightfly Orchestra", with whom I have been singing for more than 20 years. Here you will find some of my favorite songs, Christmas classics such as "White Christmas", "Let It Snow", "Winter Wonderland", and then songs from the Latin world such as "Feliz Navidad" by Jose Feliciano, which brings joy. Like the song "Pretend", which is not exactly a Christmas song, but which I like a lot and which we enjoyed making in our version which was very different from the original, a ballad by the unforgettable Nat King Cole. Speaking of ballads, you can listen to our version of a wonderful song by a great jazz singer, Mel Torme, “The Christmas Song”. And who has never sung Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" at least once, even just the title of the song?
I find that our version with the orchestra is very nice, thanks to the arrangement of our director Gabriele Comeglio as for all the songs on the album. We revisited in our own way the international success of my friend Mario Biondi, “This Is What You Are”, which in the Christmas version becomes “This Is Christmas Time”. I wrote the text several years ago, when Mario came on the radio for an interview on my program "Monte Carlo Nights". On that occasion, we recorded a version together, in the radio studios. Our version with the orchestra is inspired by the groove of Koop, a Swedish band.
For this album, I wrote three other unreleased songs: “By The Fireplace”, a musical dedication to my wife Marcella, with whom I spent many wonderful Christmas holidays, and “Joy & Praise” (bonus track) a small song inspired by a Christmas spent on the beach under the sun. Opening the album is the song that gives the album its title "Let's Have a Real Good Xmas", a song that talks about the joy of spending the holidays well together with family and friends, to make the holidays special for everyone. In the lyrics of the song I sing: “Let's make it special for every single one, that walks in thru your door!”, in particular to all the people who walk through the door of our house.
