The band, formed in the spring of 2019, consists of students and graduates of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. The quintet performs original compositions by the leader and other instrumentalists, and also reaches for well-known and popular jazz literature. The musical style of Marta Rubik Quintet is modern jazz with a touch of illustration music, folk and classical music. The leader is looking for a sound that will express her own, feminine sensitivity.
Marta Rubik Quintet is a group of young people studying jazz at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, constantly honing their skills, full of enthusiasm, focused on teamwork, which gives them real joy, which in turn translates into the pleasure of listening to their playing.
The variety of sounds, rhythms and arrangements of individual pieces, mainly by the band leader, and the solo/improvised parts mean that this diverse programme, in my opinion with a touch of melancholy or contemplation, should appeal not only to seasoned jazz connoisseurs, but to all lovers of good music.
