For Fans of, Hawkwind, Van der Graaf Generator, and Progressive Rock! In 2017, Spirits Burning performed live in England at Kozfest. The line-up: Hawkwind family members Richard Chadwick (drums, vocals), Bridget Wishart (vocals, EWI), and Steve Bemand (guitar, vocals), plus Don Falcone (keyboards, vocals), Kev Ellis (Kaoss Pad, vocals), Martin Plumley (guitar, vocals), and Colin Kafka (bass). This was a rare live show, as Spirits Burning have historically been a studio project. With contributions on 20 albums from almost 300 musicians, located across the world from the U.S. to Europe to Russia to Japan, live shows had never been considered before. The set began with Bridget on lead vocals. This included two songs from the first two Spirits Burning & Bridget Wishart albums. Next, were four songs from early Spirits Burning albums: first, two songs featuring Don on lead vocals, followed by two energetic instrumentals, driven by the rhythm section of Richard and Colin, and both songs punctuated with explosive leads by Steve on guitar. The last four songs of the set were vocal songs, starting with the title track from the Alien Injection album, with Kev’s live rendition of his original lead vocals. The band then did a cover of Hawkwind’s Images, which Bridget, Richard, and Steve had previously done together for the 1991 Hawkwind European tour promoting Space Bandits.
