Safaa Al-Saadi - Code of Life (2024)

Safaa Al-Saadi is an Iraqi musician and composer born in 1973 in Baghdad. From an early age, he trained in percussion, later mastering the ney (Arabic flute) and keyboard instruments. At the age of 12, he enrolled at the Baghdad Institute of Music, where he studied flute and Arabic music under Professor Saad Hassoun Al-Sellami.

After graduating from the institute in 1996, Safaa continued his education at the Academy of Arts in Baghdad, taking courses with renowned professors. He contributed to over 40 children's songs for radio and television and composed several pieces for singer Qasim Al-Rahal.

In 2002, Safaa emigrated to Norway, where he pursued his musical career, performing at festivals and concerts in more than 10 European countries and Morocco. He collaborated with various groups and artists, including Miriam Segal, the band Ellayali, and Malika Makouf Rasmussen. Among his recent works are the composition "Fra Al-Furat til Glomma," performed at the Olavsfestdagene festival in 2013, and the project "Broer av Musikk" (Bridges of Music), presented in 2014.

Safaa Al-Saadi continues to actively compose and perform music, blending Arabic and Western musical traditions.
