Henrique Mota - For Peace (2024)

Pianist and composer Henrique Mota will release the EP For Peace, his 6th original album, on digital platforms on December 25th. The idea behind this work is to use music to appeal to serenity at a time when there are so many conflicts in the world and, even within our own communities, so many differences. On the same day of the release, Henrique will make the first music video available on YouTube, with the song that gives the album its name.

With a solid track record in the instrumental scene, Henrique Mota explores themes of conflict and peace, and deeply reflects on times of war, taking advantage of the Christmas period to reinforce that art is a tool for transformation and harmony. For Henrique, “I think that music can comfort, bring hope and, above all, provoke reflection: is it possible to find peace? And it’s not just about wars between countries, but also about our daily wars against hunger, homelessness, unemployment, racism, and so many other pains.” And he concludes: “What makes me see peace is returning to our purpose in life in this world, is understanding how I can help others with my strength, with my work.”

The repertoire opens with the title track Tears or Choro, then For Peace, which gives the album its name, followed by Refugges, Hidden Face and finally, Where to find it. All by Henrique, the latter being an improvised work. The album was recorded at Estúdio Monteverdi, with audio recording by Douglas Fonseca and mastering by André Mehmari. In addition to the release on the platforms, the musician will perform two shows in São Paulo in December at BibliASPA – Biblioteca Centro de Pesquisa América do Sul, Países Árabes e África, an NGO whose mission is to welcome and provide education for refugees and immigrants.
