A rare and wonderful album from Dutch pianist Rog Agerbeek -- a player who's not nearly as well-remembered as some of the more avant members of his scene, but who always works with a strong sense of soul and imagination! This album's great proof of that -- as Rob and the group have a sound that's almost inherited from the Horace Silver of the 60s, but taken into newer 70s-oriented modes -- which at times has Rob playing electric piano, others has the group working with a bold sense of rhythm that's really stunning -- on all original material that make the album a killer through and through. Other players include the great Dick Vennink on soprano sax and tenor, Klaas Wit on trumpet, Rob Langereis on bass, and Eric Ineke ond rums -- on titles that include "One Step Forward", "Flat Cat", "Night Song", "Keep The Change", "Flower To The East", and "Caramel".
