Ghazi Faisal Al-Mulaifi & Boom.Diwan feat. Arturo O'Farrill - Live in the Khaleej! (Live) (2025) [Hi-Res]

Ghazi & Boom.Diwan is a Kuwaiti musical ensemble deeply rooted in the traditional seafaring music of Kuwait, symbolized by the Boom (a significant ship for pearl diving and trade) and the Diwan (a space for preserving and sharing cultural music). Their work bridges tradition and innovation, collaborating with musicians from diverse genres and cultures to explore and reinterpret Kuwaiti music.

Live in the Khaleej! marks an exciting collaboration between Ghazi Al-Mulaifi and Boom.Diwan with multi-Grammy Award-winning pianist Arturo O’Farrill. This project follows the success of the Cuban Khaleeji Project and continues the cultural exchange between two seafaring traditions—Kuwaiti and Cuban. Supported by NYU Abu Dhabi’s Division of Arts & Humanities, this live recording event, co-commissioned by The Arts Center, is part of Abu Dhabi’s City of Music initiative. Liner notes by Grammy-winning writer Ashley Kahn accompany the performance, set for January 5, 2024.
