The Cuban Panart label is the only one to bear the seal of the Cuban Tourist Commission, and Julio Gutierrez was the label's leading arranger/producer for some time. Cha Cha Cha for Moderns is unlike Alfredito's album of the same name in that Gutierrez is backing the singing C. Faxas Quartet. There are some interesting cha cha adaptations of non-Latin tunes, but the major selling point of an album like this is the authenticity and the sound. This is not an album that anyone needs to hunt down relentlessly, yet it is a high point in any cha cha collection.
