Tidal Perspectives* is an album by Giovanni Di Domenico, Pak Yan Lau, and John Also Bennett, recorded in a single afternoon in Brussels. It features four flowing compositions blending processed Rhodes piano, sizzling ceramics, and liquified bass flute, evoking the natural ebb and flow of oceanic tides. The collaboration originated when Di Domenico and Bennett met at a record fair in Belgium and connected over their shared curiosity for unconventional sounds. They were later joined by Lau, a Belgian sound artist, and entered the studio without prior discussions or pre-planned structures, resulting in spontaneous and emotionally resonant recordings.

Bennett’s bass flute contributes free-flowing, melodic textures that interact with Di Domenico’s shimmering Rhodes piano, while Lau’s prepared piano, hydrophone, and ceramic sound objects add layers of texture and intrigue. The trio’s improvisations move seamlessly between moments of clarity and abstraction.

The album's centerpiece, the 18-minute title track “Tidal Perspectives,” captures the essence of the project, with Lau’s delicate tonal waves, Di Domenico’s Rhodes, and Bennett’s flute creating an immersive, ever-shifting sonic experience, akin to drifting on ocean currents.
