The Mahones, a Cologne-based band formed in 1987, have become one of the longest-standing folk music groups in Germany. Known for their energetic fusion of Celtic music with elements of punk, ska, bluegrass, and polka, they create vibrant, sweat-inducing Irish-Polka party music. Over the years, they’ve performed at over 300 concerts and festivals, sharing stages with notable Celtic acts like The Pogues and Geraldine MacGowan. Their lively performances and therapeutic mix of Irish tradition, joy, and Rhineland humor have captivated audiences in Germany, Poland, Switzerland, and even Ireland. Unlike many other bands, their passion for music remains raw, genuine, and heartfelt, even after more than 20 years.
