The Ronnie Scott's Club Quintet - 1959 (2025)

The Club Quintet launch their album 1959, which comprises of original music inspired by some of the most iconic jazz compositions that stem from that pivotal year in Jazz.

When celebrating its 60th anniversary, Ronnie Scott's club commemorated iconic 1959 jazz albums like Kind Of Blue and Blowin' The Blues Away, with the club's quintet performing them in full. The performances also featured original compositions.

Now recorded, you will hear tracks like Soho Wander, inspired by a morning walk in London, and Cookin', a tribute to Horace Silver. Also featured is Take Me Home, a bluesy piece with dynamic solos, and Last Minute Waltz, a challenging composition inspired by Dave Brubeck. Miles To Go draws from Art Blakey's album 'Moanin', while the final track, The Underdog, captures the contrasting aspects of Charles Mingus's character, as depicted in his autobiography.

In addition to the album tracks you will hear a selection of classic tunes like Blue Rondo A La Turk and So What, all from the year 1959.
