Rex Richardson - Elegy (2025)

Rex Richardson’s Elegy highlights the trumpeter’s virtuosity in both jazz and classical music. Having collaborated with jazz legends like Joe Henderson and Dave Holland, Richardson leads a quintet/sextet on this album, featuring saxophonists Charles Owens and Steve Wilson, two rhythm sections, and compositions by himself, Owens, and pianist Dimitrije Vasiljevic.

With fiery improvisations and dynamic interplay, Elegy showcases Richardson’s mastery, supported by bassists Andrew Randazzo and Randall Pharr and drummers Brian Caputo and Kofi Shepsu. Considered one of his finest jazz recordings, the album is a must-listen for jazz enthusiasts.
