Bass player, composer, arranger, and producer Gaspard Gabriel is excited to announce the release of his debut album The Awakening on Feb. 14, 2025. An instrumental art blending fusion, jazz, funk, psychedelic, and neo-soul influences, The Awakening is a sonic exploration of Gaspard’s vivid and colorful dreams, crafted by his warm, rich tone and chordal approach on bass. Gaspard Gabriel shows a deep commitment to artistic freedom and sincerity. The Awakening marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his musical career.
Born in Vannes, France, Gaspard is now based in Los Angeles. His journey as both a musician and a producer has taken him from Paris, where he worked as a graphic designer and a bass player, to Boston. The album was recorded while he was attending Berklee College of Music. From “Awake” to “Gunung Padang”, you can feel Gaspard’s multiple influences and experiences. The Awakening is an album that blurs genre lines and offers a deeply personal experience.
As the sole producer and mixer behind the album, Gaspard’s meticulous attention to detail and his innovative approach to bass playing shine throughout the project. The album captures his distinctive sound, using the bass as a melodic and rhythmic anchor. With complex textures of changing movements, The Awakening invites its listeners to drift between dimensions and echoes of dreams. Playing on the album is an exceptional group of musicians and friends he met in Boston:
Coy Simmons – Alto Saxophone
Akihiro Kokufukata & Joey Du Bois – Trumpet
Hana Uwai, Arman Wali, & Paul Vanier – Piano
Angelo Della Valle – Guitar
Willem Jochems – Drums
