Description

The ensemble Kapelle Nogler presents an impressive musical journey through Swiss folk music, both old and new, with their latest album Kunstspedition. Drawing from the historical melodies of the Nogler family from Engadin, which have been newly arranged by Florian Walser, the album bridges the gap between traditional dance music, classical art music, and contemporary influences.

With a lineup featuring three string players and a clarinet, the ensemble revives long-forgotten melodies, enriching them with fresh, original interpretations. The album showcases a wide range of musical styles, from lively waltzes and Scottish dances to festive polkas and deeply moving chorales. The arrangements masterfully blend Alpine folk music with classical influences, drawing inspiration from Beethoven and Mendelssohn, while also incorporating unexpected elements—such as Gustav Mahler’s presence, a Mazurka merging with a Passacaglia, or the gentle resonance of a natural yodel.
About the Artists

The roots of Kapelle Nogler trace back to Rudolf Nogler (1829–1888) from Ardez, making them well-known for their unique Engadin melodies and innovative arrangements. The group consists of:
