The Shadows were not only Cliff Richard's backing band, but also released many singles and albums on their own, establishing themselves as one of the leading British instrumental bands of the 1960s. On their sixth album (1967), the Shadows, with lead guitarist Hank Marvin at the helm, deliver a wonderful Shadows sound that ranges from dynamic rock numbers to beautiful ballads, and their interpretation of standards is also a treat to hear.
