Yama (ヤマ) is a next generation Japanese r&b singer-songwriter who started to cover songs on YouTube around 2018. Since then, they have attracted lots attention on the Internet, mainly through social networks keeping their real identity secret. Yama’s first original song, “Haru Wo Tsugeru” was released in April 2020, going viral by winning listeners’ hearts and ranking in the top of various music charts.

Yama's 4th album marks a turning point for him, and a new step forward. After the "moratorium period" up until his 3rd album, his 4th album marks a step forward as an artist. The title "; semicolon" has the meaning of "putting an end to a life of worry and starting afresh" by getting the mark tattooed, and he carved it into the title with that feeling in mind.
