TransEuropeExpress Ensemble, Hans Lüdemann - On the Edges 2 (2023)

Hans Lydemann's transeuropeexpress octet, composed of French and German musicians, debuted in 2018 with his album Polyjazz, and subsequently embarked on a musical discovery journey as part of a project called on the Edges. The seven-year series is planned to travel to five regions inside and outside the European Union. The ensemble and the invited guest artists, through the interaction and fusion of their musical mother tongues, paint a richly layered picture of European jazz.
After the first album with Majid Bekkas and his adventures in North Africa, the second part of the series takes the listener to Scandinavia. The modern, contemporary album features two guest artists: the cult figure of the avant-garde scene living in Sweden, Sofia Jernberg, who shows her unique vocal and musical abilities in all its splendor, and the Finnish guitarist Kalle Kalima, who has been known for many different faces in recent decades, but is now presenting her compositional side for the first time, with compositions that also show her sophisticated and peculiar sense of humor.
The album is completed by a composition by Silke Eberhard and Ronny Graupe for the band.
