Take two double bassists, a vibraphonist, and a drummer, and you have a uniquely sonically distinctive jazz quartet at work. In jazz music, the double bass is primarily responsible for the swinging and groovy fundamental notes of the harmonies. In "Joey's Double Bass Quartet," these plucked or bowed bass instruments are, above all, melody players and soloists. Joey's favorite motto: "Our deep, deep double bass section is in underground reflection."

All compositions are by Erich Fischer. They draw from the rich and varied world of jazz.

The new CD, "a matter of time," features 12 new pieces by the bandleader. Guest artists include vocalist Katya Che and flautist Stefan Keller.

Erich Fischer's new work was released in March 2025 by the renowned Swiss jazz label "Altri Suoni."
