To launch the Mr Bongo Edit Series, legendary DJ and producer Danny Krivit delivers two masterful reworks of Latin classics from the label’s archives. Far more than simple edits, Krivit applies his decades of experience to breathe new life into:

Sabu Martinez's "Hotel Alyssa-Sousse, Tunisia" – Originally from the 1973 Afro Temple album, Krivit polishes his personal mix into a fiery Latin groove.

Nico Gomez's "Lupita" – A 1971 underground Latin-crossover hit, now elevated with dramatic build-ups and fresh, layered percussion.

Both edits showcase Krivit's instinctive feel for the dancefloor and his ability to transform treasured tracks into renewed club anthems.

For the second release in the Mr Bongo Edits series, underground legend Luke Una—founder of Manchester’s iconic Electric Chair and curator of the É Soul Cultura compilations—delivers two cosmic, floor-filling reworks from his secret stash of rare finds.

Side A: Thandi Zulu & The Young Five’s take on Pure Energy’s "Love Game" gets re-edited into a powerful blend of South African synth bass, soulful machine funk, and raw disco energy.

Side B: South African pianist Lionel Pillay’s jazz jam "Plum" is transformed from an 18-minute raw groove into a hypnotic, Chicago-style piano house-inspired weapon.

Drawing on nearly 40 years of crate digging and DJing, Luke strips back and rebuilds both tracks with added weight, looped drums, and psychedelic cosmic disco flourishes—crafted for maximum dancefloor impact.

For the third volume of the Mr Bongo Edits series, longtime collaborators Dan Tyler (of the Idjut Boys) and Nick The Record dive into a treasure trove of 1970s Cuban music, delivering three expertly reworked tracks made for today’s dancefloors.

Side A (Dan Tyler):

Re-edits two tracks from Juan Pablo Torres:

"Cacao" (from Algo Nuevo, 1978) gets expanded with cosmic synths, dub effects, and a percussive build-up nodding to George Kranz’s Din Daa Daa.

"Pastel En Descarga" (from Super Son, 1977) is transformed into a dub-heavy, psychedelic Latin-funk stomper with extended breaks and rich delays.

Side B (Nick The Record):

Revisits his 2009 edit of Grupo Los Yoyi’s "Paco La Calle" (1977), stretching it into a hypnotic, percussion-driven journey built for dancers.

This updated 2025 version features added synth work from Dan, heightening its swirling, psychedelic energy.

Together, Dan and Nick reimagine these vintage Cuban gems with deep respect and modern dancefloor sensibility, continuing the Mr Bongo Edits legacy with flair.
