Sonia Spinello has received praise from both the public and the critics, in a short time and after only two recordings both with italian jazz label Abeat records: we are speacking about the very personal and original re-reading entitled “Billie Holiday project” (ABJZ545) and “Wonderland” (ABJZ162), award-winning disc with an exceptional artistic/audiophile profile that earned her the important recognition of “Critique Award Magazine”, in Japan, as the best female voice recording of the year 2016.
Great singing skills and a natural vocation as a leader, have allowed her to always seize the goal. By “Cafè society” Sonia Spinello offers us a rereading of some noteable standards of the American songbook, supported by a rhythmic section that sees in its ranks two heavyweights of the Italian european jazz scene: Attilio Zanchi on double bass and the dean of the national jazz, Gianni Cazzola on drums. The lyric feature of Fabio Buonarota and the elegant phrasing and harmonious intertwining of the guitarist Lorenzo Cominoli complete a perfect, measured, refined and highly expressive picture.
