“Since his first performances as a tenor saxophonist in the 1970s, Ab Schaap not only came to be an early contributor to Dutch jazz history, in the following decades he also showed his versatility as a composer and an educator. Some of the finest musicians in the Netherlands now have gathered in a septet playing Ab’s originals and arrangements. “Real Jazz” lingered in bop and swing tradition, a feast to the ear, an invite to the feet.
