TURBO MELTDOWN, the second album from HHY & The Kampala Unit—a collaboration between Portuguese sound artist Jonathan Uliel Saldanha and Ugandan vocalist/horn player Florence Nandawula—is a high-octane, genre-defying sonic journey. Following their 2020 debut Lithium Blast, this new release ventures deeper into a dystopian soundscape, blending gqom, jungle, funk, and horror-inspired cinematic intensity.

Composed on the road, the album features contributions from Kintu Jacob (trombone, Ugandan Homeland Brass Band), Sekelembele (percussion/vocals, Fulu Miziki), and visual collaborators Junia and Exocé Kasongo, enhancing the project's immersive, collective nature.

Tracks like “APEXPREDATOR” and “NEON VEIL COLLAPSE” fuse militant snares, gqom-inspired percussion, and searing brass with rave elements and experimental textures. Nandawula’s powerful horns channel both Funkadelic and Godzilla OST energy, adding urgency and drama. The result is a relentless, apocalyptic soundtrack that crashes through genre boundaries—part sci-fi thriller, part end-of-the-world celebration.
