Gabriele Mirabassi, Metaphora Ensemble - Intorno a me (2025) [Hi-Res]

Promu Label celebrates the release of its 25th album with a project centered on the clarinet in an elegant dialogue with string orchestra sounds. The idea was born from the artistic encounter between Gabriele Mirabassi, the internationally renowned Italian clarinetist known for his versatility in both classical and jazz music, and the young Metaphora Ensemble—a group whose name, from the Ancient Greek meta and phoreo ("to carry beyond"), reflects their goal of going beyond the traditional boundaries of music.

The album features works by three composers with whom Mirabassi has often collaborated: Germano Mazzocchetti, who contributes the concerto "Superstite è il sole", blending folk-inspired melodies with a classical concerto structure; Marcello Fera, with "Cyberphonia", a piece for clarinet and strings dedicated to neuroscientist and cybernetics pioneer Valentino von Braitenberg; and Pietro Leveratto, who composed three pieces commissioned by the Sonora Festival in Merano.

The album closes with an original composition by Mirabassi himself, dedicated to the city of Gorizia, the European Capital of Culture for 2025. This project brings together generations and musical traditions, offering a fresh and innovative musical experience.
