Woodenhead - The Big Picture (1992) Hi-Res

WOODENHEAD are a fusion group from New Orleans formed in 1975 by Jimmmy ROBINSON and Dany CASSIN. The two met at the Loyola University music department while pursuing their degrees, and while they both had much appreciation for classical as well as rock music, it was in the early 70's when they were inspired to form a group with the arrival of MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA that pushed the boundaries of the genre. Soon enough they were playing progressive fusion instrumentals at places like the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

The group went through a couple of line-up changes throughout more than four decades of existence but stabilized with ROBINSON and CASSIN along with pianist Fran COMISKEY, bassist Paul CLEMENT and drummer Mark WHITAKER. They have toured the United States as well as Central America and have been opening acts for the likes of MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA, BILLY COBHAM, CHICK COREA's ELEKTRIK BAND, DIXIE DREGS, BELA FLECK AND THE FLECKTONES and have toured with STEVE MORSE BAND and ALLAN HOLDSWORTH.
