Gene Dunlap, born June 19, 1954, is an American drummer and Grammy Award Nominated musician from Detroit, Michigan.
His father taught him to play the drums and Dunlap honed his craft at Detroit Mumford High School where he teamed up with his friend and guitarist Earl Klugh. Together, forming the The Earl Klugh Trio.
In the early 80's, he released three solo albums: 'It’s Just the Way I Feel', 'Party In Me' and 'Tired of Being a Nice Guy' on Capitol Records.
After this solo projects, Dunlap reunited with Earl Klugh and the duo began recording and touring together. They have collaborated on many albums throughout their careers.
Gene Dunlap has also been involved in a variety of projects with other major recording artists.
He plays Gretsch drums and Bosphorus cymbals.
