The Verve - Voyager 1 (Live / 1992) (2025)

Voyager 1 is a semi-official live album by The Verve, released in 1993 to introduce the band to the U.S. market. Though endorsed by the band, it was designed to resemble a bootleg, complete with the catalog number Jolly Roger 2. Recorded live in London and New York in 1992, the album showcases the band's powerful early sound before the release of their debut A Storm in Heaven.

The performances highlight Nick McCabe's atmospheric guitar work, Richard Ashcroft's expressive vocals, and the tight rhythm section of Simon Jones and Pete Salisbury. Live versions of "She’s a Superstar" and "Gravity Grave" are more intense than their studio recordings, while tracks like "Slide Away" and "Already There" preview the band's psychedelic edge. The standout "South Pacific", unreleased in studio form until 2015, offers a lush, immersive sound likened to “an ocean crashing down around your ears.”
