This is a leader album by Japanese jazz pianist Masabumi Kikuchi, released in 1978, featuring Gary Peacock (b,per), Al Foster (ds,per), Badal Roy (tabla), Alyrio Lima (per), Zaaedin Weston (per) and others. The album is an ambitious work that challenges new territory with a piano trio and a large number of percussionists. Kikuchi, who has been interested in various kinds of ethnic music, has been influenced by the tabla played by Badal Roy, who played in Miles Davis' group during the electric era, and by Brazilian percussionist Alyrio Lima, who played the berimbau and other Brazilian and Arabic ethnic percussion instruments. The ethnic jazz of #3, featuring ethnic and Arabic percussion instruments, is a glimpse of the process of breaking away from the existing jazz format.
