Extra Stars is an instrumental album by Los Angeles-based guitarist and composer Gregory Uhlmann, synthesising his accumulated experience across ambient, chamber jazz, and experimental electronic music. Fourteen miniature compositions balance rhythmic precision with pastoral beauty, with particular attention to harmonic depth often absent from purely atmospheric music. The record features contributions from saxophonist Alabaster DePlume, vocalist Tasha, bassist Anna Butterss, Josh Johnson, and Uhlmann's SML bandmates. Inspired by a visit to California's Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, the album contemplates the experience of gazing into the boundless expanse of the night sky.
