In the quiet retreat of his dacha in Zhukovka, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Dmitri Shostakovich composed his last work in 1975: the Sonata for Viola and Piano op. 147. This place was his sanctuary, where his thoughts took shape and every note became a confession. But this work is not only a musical testament, it is also a gift, a gesture of deep friendship. He dedicated it to the violist Fyodor Druzhinin, his close friend and loyal interpreter, a member of the Beethoven Quartet. Their connection was more than a collaboration - it was an absolute trust, a dialog from soul to soul, in which the music became a language of its own. This album is a reminder of this dacha, which is as intimate as it is timeless - a place where Shostakovich entrusted his friend with his last notes and where music cemented an unbreakable friendship.
