This groundbreaking ensemble represents the outstanding talents of Eric Abramowitz, principal clarinetist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist and arranger, Drew Jurek, virtuoso violinist/vocalist/composer, Rebekah Wolkstein, founder/leader of the renowned Payadora Ensemble, Juno-nominated bassist Michael Herring, and Juno Award-winning pianist Jeremy Ledbetter. This ensemble redefines the traditional boundaries of Yiddish music, combining classical craftsmanship with innovative compositions and soulful arrangements.
This group has an exciting trajectory. Just 6 months after Abramovich and Volkstein came up with the idea to create a band, they had a full-fledged show of original music and inventive arrangements. Their debut performance was a live broadcast broadcast with a studio audience at Zoomer Hall in Toronto for Classical 96.3FM in May 2024.
