"Revelation on the Beach was inspired by a psychedelic experience during the isolation years of the pandemic. In July of 2021 my wife and I drove an hour or so out of the city to the largely deserted beach at Mount Baldy, a monumental sand dune near Beverly Shores, Indiana. Looking over the sea-like vastness of Lake Michigan, the Chicago skyline loomed ill in the distance, shrouded in a cloud of darkness as sun shattered on the water. The beach was empty and the beauty of nature was juxtaposed with this powerful image to the west and Mount Baldy’s iconic cooling tower to the east. We swam in the patterns of sand, uncovering dramatic sculptures created by nature and our minds while the overwhelming emotions of the day were painted before and within us."
