North Sea Radio Orchestra - Special Powers (2025)

Special Powers is the fifth studio album by the North Sea Radio Orchestra (NSRO), released on May 30, 2025, through Believers Roast. Led by composer Craig Fortnam, NSRO continues to blend chamber music, folk, and art-pop elements in this release. The album features contributions from ensemble members such as Chantelle Pike (vocals), Nicola Baigent (clarinet and flute), Luke Crookes (bassoon), Harry Escott (cello), Brian Wright (violin and viola), and James Larcombe (keyboards and hurdy-gurdy), with special guest Chlöe Herington on recorder.

The album comprises eight tracks, including the title track "Special Powers," "All Alice Like," and "The Players Ask For A Blessing On The Psalteries And On Themselves," which sets a poem by W.B. Yeats to music. The compositions showcase NSRO's signature style, combining intricate arrangements with poetic lyrics.
