The label and mix series Theory Therapy exists in a fragmented corner of the ambient dub spectrum. On releases from Ike Zwanikken, DJ Birdbath, Other Joe, and more, serenity and contortion mixed to bewitching ends. The Australian imprint’s latest is from Imryll, a Taiwan-based artist who fuses their shrouded voice with glitchy production. Obscure Blood & Love is a rumination on ecological cycles of growth, glazed with a smokey, inward-gazing patina. It’s the closest Theory Therapy has come to releasing a pop record so far—but the whole thing still melts with the consistency of fresh snow.
