The work created by Eugenia Canale consists of a jazz quartet rearrangement of the opera “Turandot” by Giacomo Puccini. A new amazing project that blends the great operatic tradition with improvisation and the typical jazz sound. A “Unicum” in the panorama. Made with the support of musicians of great artistic caliber and of the highest importance in the national panorama. Some famous arias and themes of Turandot are reinterpreted in a truly original way. Melodies and harmonies are maintained while most of the contribution lies in the rhythmic and timbric reworking, through a variety of musical styles, including swing, New Orleans style, contemporary jazz, free improvisation, prog and bebop. We can have confirmation of how Puccini’s writing, although rooted in the European tradition, anticipated many aspects of twentieth-century music, including the techniques and atmospheres that would later characterize the film soundtrack. An operation certainly extraordinary and of great artistic and exegetical importance!
