Jo Mama came together in 1970 as friends and back-up players with James Taylor and Carole King. The spearhead was guitar player/songwriter/singer Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar. At the same time that they were recording and singing on Sweet Baby James and Tapestry (and their subsequent tours), the musicians who played on the side as Jo Mama produced an incredible album of their own.
Produced by Peter Asher and recorded in LA, this record is like a grittier Carole King record with some very jazzy/R&B influences. This version of Machine Gun Kelly will surprise JT fans. Their version of Cotton Eye Joe is stunning.
