Nathan Salsburg - Ipsa Corpora (2025) [Hi-Res]

“Ipsa Corpora” is a deeply personal and philosophical musical composition born from an overwhelming influx of sonic ideas, initially imagined as personified characters. However, these sounds took on a life of their own, becoming embodied, almost physical presences. As the piece developed in Fall 2023—amid global violence and the witnessing of human bodies desecrated for political ends—the composition became a vessel for mourning, grief, and reflection.

The work explores the relation between sound and the human body, where silence, interruption, and distance are as meaningful as the notes themselves. Influenced by the writings of Maurice Blanchot, the composition reflects on irreducible distances between people, using sound and silence to express themes of grief, embodiment, and connection in the face of destruction.
