DJ Supermarkt's ever-dependable Too Slow To Disco bring us a superb 15-track collection that'll be perfect for some lazy groovin' this summer. The album starts with lovetempo (AKA Poolside/The Rapture man Mattie Safer) and Prince Terrence bringing us a stunning cover of Anita Baker's 1986 R&B jam 'Same Ole Love' that to these ears outstrips the original, and closes with Kimchii's fragile, melancholy 'Do You Ever', which wouldn't have sounded out of place on Pink Floyd's 'Meddle', while in-between you'll find 13 more mellow cuts that draw heavily on the yacht rock, smooth R&B, jazz-funk and Quiet Storm soul of the late 70s and early 80s for inspiration. There's a definite pop slant to much of what's on offer here - but unlike chart pop, which offers instant satisfaction but soon palls, these cuts just keep getting better and better, revealing more substance with every repeat play. Niceness!
