Various Artists - Lek Mak: A Footprint from Bougainville (2025)

The Wantok Musik Foundation proudly presents Lek Mak, a landmark Bougainville music and cultural project releasing July 18, 2025. This compilation album and companion documentary amplify voices from across the island—from Pororan and Toubanis to Buka, the Carterets, Wakunai, Manetai, Vito, Arawa, and Buin. Featuring ancestral tumbuna songs, kaur music, traditional bamboo bands, and bold contemporary reinterpretations, Lek Mak maps Bougainville’s soundworld around themes of peace-building, climate resilience, and everyday village life. Supported by the not-for-profit Wantok Musik Foundation and the Australian Government, the artists retain full rights to their work, ensuring their stories remain in their own hands.
