American pop group, centered around a female vocal quartet, The King Sisters, that had first gained popularity in the 1940s, and included big band leader and guitar virtuoso Alvino Rey and 32 sisters, brothers, husbands, wives, aunts, uncles and children that made up their extended musical family. Originally christened "America's First Family of Song", The King Family catapulted to fame following just two dazzling appearances on ABC-TV's The Hollywood Palace to become one of the most popular and beloved television, recording, and concert acts of the 1960's and 1970's. The King Sisters were mothers of The Four King Cousins.
