A Million Creatures' WAKE, the solo project of Seattle-based musician Molly Murphy, is a fuzzy analog album of single-take performances recorded straight to tape in a computer-free studio in 2018, capturing summer rain, crickets, and raw intimacy. Thematically a fairytale-map through murky emotions, bodily strangeness, anxiety, and monstrous transformations, it explores a person's inadequacy alongside a hungry "Watchdog" companion, evolving from Murphy's 2013 lo-fi debut In This Hour. Co-produced with Lora-Faye Åshuvud and featuring Phil Harris, the record blends dark, hopeful sounds with obsessive introspection, reflecting Murphy's DIY event-hosting and podcast storytelling background in building imaginative worlds.
