Syndesis is a deeply personal album by Australian composer Madeleine Cocolas, exploring the nexus between music, place, and memory. Inspired by her journey through Greece, the album incorporates field recordings collected from diverse locations—from the top of the Acropolis to the gate at Mycenae, from water lapping against the Bourtzi Fortress to church bells ringing at St Georges church in Nafplio. These sounds form the foundation for compositions that weave minimalist ambient textures, acoustic elements, and electronic accents. The music reflects Cocolas’ emotional response to the memories evoked by these sounds, creating an atmosphere that bridges past and present, inviting listeners into a contemplative journey.
