Stefan Wesołowski - Song of the Night Mists (2025) [Hi-Res]

Song of the Night Mists is the final chapter of Polish composer Stefan Wesołowski’s trilogy, following Liebestod (2013) and Rite of the End (2017). An atmospheric and metaphysical suite, the album explores themes of memory, nature, and human spirituality. Recorded in Wesołowski’s Gdańsk studio and Saint Nicholas’ Basilica in Amsterdam, it blends acoustic instruments (piano, violin, double bass, organ) with classic synthesizers like the Roland Jupiter-8 and Soviet Polivoks, alongside field recordings from the Tatra Mountains, including cracking ice and avalanches. The music evokes tectonic shifts, weaving dramatic and intimate moments, inspired by W.G. Sebald’s ideas of memory and coincidence, as well as Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer’s poetry.
