Trumpeter and composer Julien Knowles, an emerging voice within the Los Angeles jazz scene, has developed a new musical project created over a two-year period as a tribute to his closest collaborators. Serving as the follow-up to his critically acclaimed 2024 debut album As Many, as One — which was recognized by NPR as one of the year's most notable jazz discoveries — the release showcases a quintet featuring Knowles, alto saxophonist Devin Daniels, pianist Paul Cornish, bassist Jermaine Paul, and drummer Jonathan Pinson. The ensemble's approach emphasizes emotional depth, dynamic interplay, and expressive spontaneity, rooted in the traditions of contemporary jazz and post-bop.
